light scatter. This now outdated technique also requires two steps,
first outputting dots to film, and then exposing them to the plates.
This can lead to loss of image quality.
The way of the future
In contrast CtP produces thermal dots
exposed by laser which generate a sharper, cleaner result on the plates.
As the information is transferred in a digital form from the computer
to plate in a single step, there is no loss of image quality. Human
error, which can affect registration and fit are eliminated, and the
optimum quality printing plates are produced. Thermal dots achieve
a better transfer of ink onto paper and the result is improved print
contrast and a better printed product.
Two chances to correct the content
CtP provides our clients with two opportunities to check and if necessary
change the content of their job before producing the plates. The first
opportunity is when clients view the contract quality digital proof.
This proof allows clients to check the colour and the content of the
job. The printer will match the printed job to this proof |
